The Village Church, Lonehill

A Bible-based Church Family in Johannesburg, South Africa

Mission

Our mission statement is captured by the acronym ROADS. We believe that for our church to be healthy, these five elements of church life (Relationships, Outreach, Anointing, Doctrine & Structure) need to be abundantly present, and held in dynamic balance with one another. Each element is explained in more detail in the following pages.

A family in relationship with God and each other
Each one reaching, teaching and releasing others
Dependant on and obedient to the Holy Spirit
Teaching what Jesus said and did
Extending His Kingdom through local churches

Calling

To be a Holy Spirit anointed church family in relationship with God and each other, passionately reaching out into the community, nation and world, to make and equip disciples of the Lord Jesus.

History

Nearly 25 years ago, the well-established and large interdenominational ‘Rosebank Union Church’ identified the need for the extension of God’s Kingdom into the far northern suburbs of Johannesburg. The Village Church in Lonehill was birthed as a result of that vision, and was shortly thereafter released to seek its own identity and direction.

Over the years, and as a result of our core ‘church-planting’ philosophy, we (Village Church, Lonehill) have planted several other churches including Ridgeway Ministries, The Village Church, Fourways, The Village Church, Peter Place, and most recently, The Village Church in Chartwell. Each of these churches has gone through their own developments, creating their own histories and individual identities in the wider Kingdom of God.

We have also planted several Micro-Churches, which continue to grow and reproduce themselves within the micro-church environment, under the spiritual oversight of the Eldership of the Village Church in Lonehill.
